Backroom deals not for tender hearts I won’t get made and I won’t get caught Sliding around some backroom trades the cost of business done today We all do backroom deals Pay me now, not any later Don’t think it doesn’t matter to me And there’s a vig, that ole alligator Taking a bite out of what you need Making money, letting it go Moving fast and then lying low Another deal coming, what do you know I need to make some more not go so slow A gun’s in my pocket case something goes wrong I got nothing for brains anymore I’m square with the dealer and nothing is gone, So I’m backing right out of the door We all do backroom deals, we all do backroom deals Backroom deals, ain’t very pretty Let’s do it here, no strings, you see Backroom deals nothing that resembles Anything that’s good for me Let’s get our kids into college somehow Let’s sell those stocks before the DOW goes down Let’s get a bribe to a senator or two It all depends on what you want to do to make a backroom deal, We all make backroom deals Making money, letting it go Moving fast and then lying low Another deal coming, what do you know I need to make some more, not go so slow I’ll think about this if you’ll look into that, You’ll be okay if you don’t look back, back, back, back Into the backroom deals, into the backroom deals Everyone does backroom deals, don’t you?

We had all that any two could ever want But somehow our lives began to fall apart And sometimes everything is not enough To calm the waters when the sea is rough And it’s too good to last I think of all the love you shared with me Did it slip through our fingers like the wind through the trees I think of all the ways you tried to make it right And How I always longed to be with you each night Your kindness could not be mistaken But loving me was never the answer When it’s too good to last I think of when we wished on falling stars And walked the desert paths in moonlight wash I think of all the things you saw in me And when I do it brings me to my knees The breeze that blew us here has come and gone What else can be said, what can be done Are we drifting apart, drifting away Why doesn’t the past count for something more today When it’s too good to last Tomorrow may bring a different point of view Maybe my thoughts return to loving you And maybe we would want each other in the night And troubles that we had would be set right With kindness, that can’t be mistaken And both of us finally asking the question Is it too good to last Is it too good to last Is it too good to last

Darlin what would you do If I floated away from you Would you keep me in your heart Would you keep me in the light Would you always keep me deep inside Darling what would you do If I drifted away from you Would you love me just the same Or would you hate me by and by Would you always keep me deep inside Floating…I’m floating away And drifting more day by day I’m flying above the clouds I’m leaving here somehow Maybe if I try I could soar away Would you love me as before Or would you close that door And say you won’t think of me anymore Darling change my mind Rescue me before I go Darling hold on to me And keep me safe and warm Darling please open your arms What if I thought it through And decided to stay Would you love me even more If you only knew All the things that I would do for you Floating…I’m floating away And drifting more day by day I’m flying above the clouds I’m leaving here somehow

I’ve been on the other side And I won’t be lying It’s better over here So don’t stop trying And I don’t advertise That I have enough to eat Or that I’m walking through my life now With new shoes on my feet I’ve got new shoes now, and a fancy dress That I bought last week from A thrift store address But I’ve been trying hard Just to make it work And it feels so right Let’s go dancing tonight We can hang outside under the silver moon And play the radio and get our favorite tunes We can rock and roll, we can sing some soul And dance and swing, we can do our thing Under the stars tonight, and the bright moonlight It’s the simple things That money cannot buy But even with new shoes on my feet I’m still asking why Because I’ve been there before On the other side We should rock and roll, we should sing some soul And dance and swing, we can do our thing Under the stars tonight, and the bright moonlight Because I’ve been there before On the other I’ve been there before—on the other side

On Fire 03:45
I don’t understand, I will never know All that we had and why we let it go But once, for a while We were on fire First it was you and then it was me In and out of love like leaves falling off a tree But for a while We were on fire Oooo, just feel the soft winds blow Summer nights just like we used to know And in these years since then we’ve had our desires Are we still on fire? Nothing ever felt quite as good as then I’ve tried to remember all the special wheres and whens And in my efforts to recall, I’ve seen them all My thoughts of you will be the last to go Embers once ablaze still have a blushing glow Oh oh we were on fire Oooo, just feel the soft winds blow Summer nights just like we used to know And in these years since then we’ve had our desires Are we still on fire? I don’t understand signal to me dear, Won’t you let me know that you want me near After all these years And all of this desire Won’t you tell me now Are we still on fire?

El Salvador 04:51
Oye mijitas, come take your mama’s hand Stay with me closely As we cross the desert sand It was leave or die But we had no where to go It’s been a desperate journey All the way through Mexico And it could mean the end, either way we go Hold on tight ninitas As we wander down the shore While we think of our home Back in El Salvador Blessed virgin please be with us God grant your shining light We know we will be hunted From the day through the night Do not cry Angelina, Magdalena take her hand Maybe there will be a miracle When we reach the promise land Do not cry Angelina, Magdalena take her hand Maybe there will be a miracle When we cross the Rio Grande Hold on tight ninitas As we wander down the shore With nothing to return to And evil knocking at our door Hold on tight ninitas As we wander down the shore And we think about our home Back in El Salvador

We’re at the gates of desperation With a figure standing there A key in one hand And a cold-hearted stare At the edge of tomorrow We’re fighting for our lives In a twisted sort of world that cannot be set right Take off your white hat, Kick off your white shoes Come with me baby Gotta sing the blues I’ll put on a black dress You put on a wicked smile And we can chase those blues for a little while I know that never Is soon enough to think Of trials and tribulations we have seen I wish that there Could be redemption Or that I could awaken from this dream And if I could, I would celebrate the gains, But that’s not how they play this game I do find solace In many things that I see And singing is the cure for misery But if we stop To take a deep breath I fear the quiet leads us to our deaths Take off your white hat, Kick off your white shoes Come with me baby Gotta sing the blues I’ll put on a black dress You put on a wicked smile And we can chase those blues for a little while It could be soon, It might be later But the blues are catching up with me And when they do The search is over I’ve found my perfect company Take off your white hat, Kick off your white shoes Come with me baby Gotta sing the blues I’ll put on a black dress You put on a wicked smile And we can chase those blues for a little while
